CINNAMON BREAD (Mrs. Gunther's secret recipe)

Ingredients for bread:

1/2 Cup milk

1 1/2 Teaspoon salt

1/4 Cup butter

1/2 Cup warm water

2 Packages yeast

2 Eggs beaten

4 1/2 Cups flour

Ingredients cinnamon sugar mixture:

1/2 Cup sugar

1 Tablespoon cinnamon

Directions:

Scald milk and then slowly stir in sugar, salt and butter

Cool the milk, sugar, salt, and butter mixture to lukewarm

While the milk mixture cools, measure warm water into a large warm bowl, and sprinkle in the yeast. Stir the yeast in the warm water until dissolved.

Stir in the lukewarm milk mixture, beaten egg, and half of the flour into the warm yeast water.  Beat until mixed together

Stir in remaining 2 1/4 cups flour to make dough slightly stiff, then knead dough until smooth and elastic (approximately 8 minutes)

Place dough in a greased bowl and then cover with towel - let rise until dough has doubled in bulk (about 1 hour)

While the dough is rising, make the cinnamon sugar mixture.

After the dough rises, punch down dough and divide in half.

Roll out 2 rectangles, approximately 9 x 12

Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture onto the dough.

Roll the dough and seal the edges.

Place in (2) 9x12 greased loaf pans. Cut three slices width-wise across the bread.

Cover bread and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour)

After the dough has risen, bake in pre-heated, 350 degree oven for 40 minutes, until golden on top.

It's a lot of work, but the shit is good!! Enjoy :)
